What is EFT?
This is a wonderful technique for removing the negative emotions that limit our success. Using this technique,
you can gain the emotional freedom to truly pursue being, doing and having what you really want in life.
EFT is a meridian-based energy therapy developed by Gary Craig from the landmark discoveries of Dr. Roger Callahan. It is a
simple technique that often provides rapid relief from physical-emotional issues (e.g. Trauma, PTSD, Phobias, Grief, Anger,
Guilt, Anxiety, Addictive Cravings, Nightmares, Abandonment, Fear of Public Speaking, Fear of Flying, Love Pain, Depression,
Pain, Headaches and much more). What follows is a brief introduction to this remarkable technique. For further information,
including the EFT Manual and case-histories, please visit Gary Craig's website.
In 1980 Dr. Callahan was working with a patient, Mary, for an intense water phobia. She suffered from frequent headaches and terrifying nightmares, both of which were related to her fear of water. To seek help, she had been going from therapist to therapist for years....with no material improvement. Dr. Callahan tried to help her by conventional means for a year and a half. He didn't make much headway either.
Then one day he stepped outside the normal "boundaries" of psychotherapy. Out of curiosity, he had been studying the body's energy system and decided to tap with his fingertips under her eyes (an end point of the stomach meridian). This was prompted by her complaint of some stomach discomfort.
To his astonishment, she announced immediately that her phobia was gone and she raced down to a nearby swimming pool and began throwing water in her face. No fear. No headaches. It all went away....including the nightmares. And it has never returned. She is totally free of her water phobia. This incident lead to what is called the Discovery Statement:

How Does EFT Work?
EFT is based on a revolutionary new discovery that violates most of the
beliefs within conventional psychology. It contends that the cause of all
negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system. With remarkable
consistency, EFT relieves symptoms by an unusual (but scientific) routine of
tapping with the fingertips on a short series of points on the body that
correspond to acupuncture points on the energy meridians. Where there is an
imbalance, there is a corresponding blockage in the flow of energy through the
meridian system.
The tapping serves to release the blockages that are created when a person thinks about
or becomes involved in an emotionally disturbing circumstance. When this blockage is
released, the emotions come into balance. Once balanced, the person cannot get upset
about the circumstance no matter how hard they try. The memory remains but the charge
is gone. Typically, the result is lasting and the person's awareness usually changes
in a positive way as a natural result of the healing.
Most energetic imbalances may be partially or completely relieved within a short
time using this process. Others may be relieved through repetition of the process.
Some examples of energetic patterns that have been successfully cleared using EFT:
Fears related to performance like public speaking, concentration, sports, etc.
Phobias like the fear of heights, flying, enclosed spaces, driving, etc.
Emotional trauma from war experiences, physical abuse, etc.
Disturbing emotions like depression and anger.
Emotions related to addictive patterns like eating and smoking
Insomnia
Emotions related to physical conditions.

How many sessions will it take to deal with my issue?
There isn't an easy, pat answer to this question. There are so many variables among
people and issues that it could take 1 session or 5. Some might even be more than that.
Complex issues, weight issues, abuse, trauma, and many others often take several sessions.
Often I'm done with someone in 30 minutes, depending on the circumstances. I find that we
can often deal with 1-3 issues per session. However, many people have multiple issues
making it hard to tell without really getting into the matter.
One lady, for instance called me because she was 'stuck' at work and couldn't seem to get the recognition
she wanted. That seemed, on the surface like a relatively easy matter to be dispensed with
quickly. As it turned out, however, there was a considerable physical trauma in her life
that had to be dealt with, the suicide of a family member, an eating disorder and much more.
And while "Ann" didn't think any of those things contributed to her problems at work,
they were actually critical to her success (or lack thereof).
So the answer to this question is "It depends". However, long it takes will be considerably
less than traditional therapies of any kind, and likely much more effective

How long do the results last?
Emotional healings are almost always long lasting. This is particularly true
if you follow the suggestions in the EFT Course and address the emotional
events as specifically as possible. If a given emotional problem does appear
to “come back,” however, the experienced practitioner will look for three
possible reasons:
1. What has "come back" is simply a related issue (aspect) that wasn't addressed in the
first place. 2. The original problem was addressed too globally and thus only partially
neutralized. 3. The cause of the problem is due to a sensitivity to something the client
ate, drank, breathed or otherwise came in contact with (an energy toxin) .
Physical healings are often impressive and long lasting as well but are more likely to
re-emerge than emotional issues. Often a physical ailment (headache, backache, stomach
upset, etc.) acts as a physical manifestation of an emotional issue. Experienced EFT’ers
see consistent evidence of this. Thus what appears to “come back” is simply the same
physical ailment reacting to a different emotional issue. This theory may be debatable,
of course, and there is no standard scientific evidence for it (yet). However, I find
it a highly reliable and useful model.

If it is wonderful, why haven’t you heard about it before?
The use of this technique is relatively new and may be a part of the beginning
of a complete revolution in the way we handle our emotions. In many cases,
difficulties that have persisted in spite of years of work using the methods
of traditional psychology may be relieved in minutes. If, not, relief is
generally possible within days or weeks rather than years.
EFT was developed earlier in the 1990's by Gary Craig, whose academic training includes
a Stanford Engineering Degree. While personal healing has been his passion for over 30
years, Gary is neither a licensed therapist nor a trained psychologist. Many of the
concepts underlying EFT came from Gary's training in Thought Field Therapy (TFT) under t
he tutorship of Dr. Roger Callahan. TFT involves the use of 10 or 15 individualized
tapping routines. EFT differs in that it employs only one comprehensive tapping routine
which is used for all emotional and physical problems. Because of this, it is easy enough
to be mastered by most people.

Are there any negative side effects?
By comparison to almost any other process, EFT is quite gentle and rarely
has any side effects. It is often used instead of other procedures, because
of its gentle nature
